Artist's Note
“Some of my fondest memories of Montreal are of encounters, community and celebration. I'm particularly interested in how the city's architecture manages to awaken a closeness between people—a phenomenon I wanted to explore through this collaboration with Héritage Montréal. That's why I chose to honor the emblematic façade of La Tulipe, whose recent closure raises important issues of heritage preservation while marking the loss of a festive gathering place. Here's an idyllic scene where the sidewalks and pavement of Papineau Street belong to the revelers, where strangers come together to form a single entity: the crowd, come to enjoy the city's cultural offerings.” — Agaboum
