BEFORE THE EVENT

What is Les Grands Ballets Dance-a-thon?

The Dance-a-thon is a fun, participatory event where participants attend a full day of dance classes in various styles while raising funds through a crowdfunding platform to support the National Centre for Dance Therapy (CNDT) of Les Grands Ballets.


When will the event take place?

The Dance-a-thon will be held on April 18, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.


Where is the Dance-a-thon held?

At Les Grands Ballets offices, 1435 rue de Bleury, Wilder Building, Espace‑Danse, Montréal—a short walk from the Place des Arts metro station (Bleury exit).


Is there on-site parking?
No. Wilder Espace-Danse does not have on-site parking. Paid public parking is available nearby:

  • L’îlot Balmoral (335 Mayor Street)
  • Indigo Parking (across from 1435 rue de Bleury)
  • Complexe Desjardins (Saint-Urbain Street)

Public transport and carpooling are also encouraged.


Who can participate?

Anyone aged 16 and older. The Discovery Path requires no prior dance experience, while the Challenge Path is aimed at those with previous dance experience.


Do I need ballet experience to participate?

No. No prior ballet experience is required. Paths include several dance styles, not just ballet.


What types of dance will be offered?

Each path includes diverse dance styles such as ballet, contemporary, jazz and flamenco, for a varied and accessible experience.


What paths are offered?

Two paths are available:

  • Discovery Path: for beginners or those seeking a more accessible approach
  • Challenge Path: for intermediate or advanced participants, or those seeking a greater challenge

How do I choose my path?

You select your path during registration, based on your level, comfort, and personal goals.


Can I choose specific dance styles and classes?

Programs are predetermined for each path to ensure balance. Registration allows you to choose the path that best suits your level and goals, with some options to personalize your schedule.


Can I participate solo or in a team?

Yes, you may register individually or as part of a team.


Team rules:

  • Minimum 2 participants per team
  • Maximum 4 participants per team

Team members can be registered in different paths based on their level.


Minimum fundraising requirements:

  • Individual: $300
  • Team of 2: $500
  • Team of 4: $800

Registration fee:

$150 per participant, plus taxes.


Are registration fees eligible for a tax receipt?

No. Only donations made through the crowdfunding platform are eligible for tax receipts.


Registration deadline:

Open until a few days before the event, subject to availability. The exact closing date will be posted on the website.


Can I switch from team to solo participation?

Yes, before the registration deadline.


What if I must cancel?

Registration fees and collected donations are non-refundable.


What if I don’t reach the minimum fundraising goal?

Our team is available to help you reach your fundraising goal. If difficulties arise, options will be discussed. For questions: Contact Us.

DURING THE EVENT

What should I wear?

​​​​​​​Wear comfortable clothing suitable for dancing and allowing freedom of movement. Dance shoes are optional.


What should I bring?

  • Comfortable clothing
  • Reusable water bottle (water will be provided)
  • Personal comfort items

What is provided?

  • Access to studios and Dance-a-thon activities
  • Access to changing rooms, washrooms, and spaces to change
  • Water fountain (bring a reusable bottle)
  • Lunch and snacks
  • Souvenir gift

Will there be food on-site?

Yes. Lunch and snacks will be provided. You may also bring your own if needed (e.g., dietary restrictions).


Is there a changing area?

Yes, a space is provided for coats and bags. Note that it is unsupervised; Les Grands Ballets is not responsible for lost or stolen items.


Will there be breaks?

Yes. Breaks are scheduled throughout the day for rest, hydration, and meals.


Is first aid available on-site?

Yes. A first aid team will be present throughout the event.


Can I leave during the event?

Yes. The Dance-a-thon is recreational, but we encourage everyone to respect their commitments.

AFTER THE EVENT

Can I continue fundraising after the Dance-a-thon?

Yes. The donation period may continue according to organizational guidelines.
